For the Love of Pasta Sauce
Everyone knows that infamous scene from Lady and the Tramp where the two dogs share a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. That’s what I think of when I think of true love. Okay, not really, but that scene does leave quite the impression.
People don’t always think of pasta as a “love” food, but red is the color of Valentine’s Day, so BOB thought it would be appropriate to explore his love of pasta sauces. If you are looking for something different to cook for your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, here are a few of BOB’s suggestions in beautiful glass containers.
Lidia’s Tomato Basil Sauce
Chef Lidia Bastianich is an Emmy award-winning television host, best-selling cookbook author and restaurateur. The beloved chef combines her love of cooking and family in her line of authentic pasta sauces, created in Italy using the finest ingredients.
Slightly seasoned with sea salt, Lidia’s Tomato Basil Sauce is made with fresh summer basil and perfectly ripe tomatoes to create the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Some added sweetness comes in the form of carrots, but you can’t really tell they are in the sauce. Pair this ready-to-go sauce with your favorite pasta for an authentic taste of Italy.
The Original Jersey Italian Gravy
The Original Jersey Italian Gravy is made with vine-ripened tomatoes, giving it that natural sweetness that you'll never forget. The Italian Gray is made the old-fashioned way, which is a six-hour process. The product is all natural with no added spices and only includes five ingredients – vine-ripened tomatoes, fresh onions, canola extra virgin olive oil, kosher salt and natural cane sugar. This gravy has real tomato flavor, is not heavy or oily and the acidity is just right.
Patsy's Italian Restaurant Marinara Sauce
Founded in 1944 by Pasquale “Patsy” Scognamillo, Patsy’s Italian Restaurant is a traditional, family-owned and operated Italian restaurant located in Midtown Manhattan. Patsy’s Italian Restaurant Marinara Sauce is the original restaurant recipe, and consists of a hearty sauce of fresh vine-ripened tomatoes, blended with pure olive oil, robust cloves of garlic, snips of parsley, diced onions, aromatic basil and suggestions of hearty oregano. This product is available in 15.5oz jars or 24oz jars, depending on your sweetheart’s appetite.
Bongiovi Spicy Arrabbiata
For those looking to spice up their Valentine’s Day, Bongiovi Arrabbiata Pasta Sauce is where it’s at. All natural and gluten-free, the cool tomato and basil flavors added to the perfect pepper combination give this pasta sauce just the right amount of heat. And, if you didn’t like it already, Bongiovi was made famous by musician Jon Bon Jovi’s father, John Bongiovi, Sr.
So, if you’re planning to share noodles with someone this Valentine’s Day, we hope you’ll pair them with one of these awesome pasta sauces. I promise you, you won’t let your sweetheart down. Who knows, you might find yourself reenacting the scene from Lady and the Tramp.
Bon appétit!
